Holidala 7.0   The Kurbitsdala

It’s that time of year again!  Join Kim for her annual tradition…the Holidala!!  This year she is celebrating a modern Swedish Kurbitsmaling style with the Kurbitsdala inspired by the folk paintings of Dalarna in Sweden.  Painted on a white background, the design is painted in shades of red with hints of Holiday sparkle.

If you are new to our Holidala Tradition, check out our past Holidala classes as an On Demand Class.

The class will be taught in oils, but as always, acrylic painters are welcome.

Date:   Saturday November 14th

Time:   11 am – 3 pm Central Time

We hope you can join us live, but remember, if you can’t make it to class there will be a recording available, so you don’t miss this annual project.

Where to get your Dala Horse:

Etsy Shop Craft Cut Concepts:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/739041947/dala-horse-laser-cut-unfinished-wood

Choose 12 inch, ¼ inch thick, whether you add a hole is up to you…

They ship pretty fast but it’s always good to order early!

Backgrounding instructions:

Sand your horse before painting. Then apply 2 or 3 coats of your background paint, sanding lightly in between coats.  You can add a light sealer to the topcoat if you choose.  Then, trace on your design pattern and you’re ready for class!

Kim uses magnesium carbonate for tracing on her pattern but use your favorite technique.       Saral wax-free transfer paper is a good choice as it wipes off pretty good.

A little Information:

You will receive the design pattern and the photos again via email 2 weeks before the first class.  The link to the zoom classes will come the week of each class so be looking for them.

Some housekeeping details:
