Nordic Canvas Folk Art Studio - delivering virtual folk art classes since 2022
Nordic Canvas Folk Art Studio is a collaboration between two folk art aficionados from the heart of the Midwest. Let us introduce ourselves!
We are Kim and Patti, two friends who met and connected through our love and passion of rosemaling. We are both students and teachers of various folk arts including rosemaling, dalmålning, bondadmålning, and Mezen. We have toured and studied in Norway and Sweden, visiting museums and private collections. Our passion is folk art and we want to share what we have learned with you. In early 2022, we began our newest endeavor of sharing virtual folk art classes with students from all across the country. Thus Nordic Canvas Folk Art Studio was born.
Meet the guides for your folk art journey.
KIM GARRETT has taught at Duluth Folk School, Ely Folk School, North House Folk School, Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum, and for rosemaling organizations in the Midwest. Kim is currently on the board of Rosemaling Coast to Coast.
PATTI GOKE has taught from coast to coast for many years. She has taken classes from teachers from the US, Norway and Sweden since 1986. Patti has earned the Vesterheim Gold Medal in rosemaling. Twice she has been a tour guide for Vesterheim folk art tours. In 2016 she worked with the artists at Epcot to teach the artists, and design and paint at the Norway Pavilion.

Once registered you will receive an email confirmation.
Each class participant will need to provide their own supplies, unless otherwise noted. You will receive a list of supplies and suggestions of where to purchase them.
About one week before the start of the class you will receive the Zoom information to access the class.
